I have my Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and my flight was booked. What do I do now?
- A Canadian citizen
- A permanent resident.
If your permanent residence has been approved, but you can’t travel to Canada before your documents expire, you must complete this Web Form to indicate why you can’t travel.

Can I still apply for Permanent Residence during the COVID-19 pandemic?
Canada is still processing immigration applications for:
- visitor visa
- work permit
- study permit
- permanent residence.
Canada will not refuse your application despite the COVID-19 pandemic. You can continue with next steps such as submitting your passport or supporting documents.
I have a relative who is a Canadian citizen. Can I enter the country?
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that once the travel restrictions take place on March 18 only immediate family members of a Canadian citizen will be allowed entry.
This action is necessary to ease the pressure travellers may place on our health care system, frontline workers, and limit the spread of COVID-19.
What will happen to me if I travel to Canada right now?
Currently, you will not be able to board a plane to Canada unless you are:
- a Canadian citizen, or
- A permanent resident.
This ban is effective as of March 18 and will continue until further notice.
I’m applying for permanent residence through Express Entry. What do I do now?
You must submit your application within 60 days of being asked to apply for permanent residence through Express Entry. You can still submit your application even if you are missing documents because of the disruptions caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19). But you must:
- Submit a letter to explain why you are missing documents
- Submit missing documents when you have them using this IRCC web form.
Your application will be held until further notice.
