Whether you need to learn English to get a job, enter a college, or a university, or simply for everyday life conversations, PICS’ language classes are specifically designed to meet your and your family’s individual needs. PICS offers a range of language programs, including Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC), Enhanced Language Training (ELP) or Professional Language Training (PLT) program and English language clubs designed around a particular field, interest or tailored to engage youth.

Eligible Participants

  • Permanent residents of Canada who have not become Canadian citizens
  • Convention refugees
  • Persons in Canada applying to become a permanent resident, and who have been informed, by a letter from Citizenship and Immigration Canada, of the initial approval of application, subject to completion of background check
  • Foreign domestic workers admitted under the Live-In Caregiver Program

To join PICS’ language classes, you also need to be of legal school-leaving age (18 years of age or older), and have your English tested at one of the following local language assessment centres:
